YES Prep Southside Elementary opened August 2021 to provide families in the Southside area a high-quality education for their younger children. The school is located next to YES Prep Southside Secondary (serving grades 6th - 12th grade). YES Prep Southside Elementary is open to students entering grades prekindergarten through fourth for the 2023-2024 school year and will add additional grade levels in the following years.
We believe in creating pathways to opportunity, to empowered communities, to success that isn’t solely defined by test scores but by a student’s ability to recognize their own value. YES Prep Public Schools is proving that different outcomes are possible when Houston communities are given access to high-quality educational opportunities. YES Prep Southside Elementary is a tuition-free, public charter school system that has no admission requirements. Are you ready to say YES?

Our Application Process
October 13 − February 18
We strongly encourage parents to apply during this timeframe to allow your child to have the best chance to attend YES Prep!
All applications that are submitted after February 18 will be automatically waitlisted in the order they are received.
February 20-21
Applicants are selected at random for admission to YES Prep.
February 22
Families receive notice if they have been accepted to or waitlisted for YES Prep.
If accepted, families will begin the registration process.
What's new for the 2023-2024 lottery application?
SchoolMint Enroll:
YES Prep has launched a new enrollment platform, SchoolMint Enroll. This platform brings a sleek look and a smoother application process for parents/guardians. Both new to YES Prep and existing families will need to create a new login to apply. Check out our video series on how to get started. SchoolMint Enroll provides an innovative fresh experience and allows YES Prep additional ways to communicate about the enrollment process.
